External vendors must follow these initial steps in the order listed to become users of MIT.nano.
1. Determine your required access level.
Vendors working unsupervised must complete the requirements below to gain access to the cleanroom and imaging areas during normal operating hours. This includes vendors that come to campus regularly for service or are coming for an extended amount of time for tool startup or qualification.
Vendors who will only be working in the restricted spaces at MIT.nano (cleanroom, subfab, imaging suites, etc.) for a limited amount of time, can be escorted inside the restricted spaces by a vendor with access or MIT.nano staff. In this case, vendors are required to stay with their escort at all times while in a restricted space.
2. Obtain a Kerberos ID.
An MIT ID number and Kerberos account are required to access restricted spaces. If you do not already have an MIT Kerberos identity, submitting the form linked below will start the process of obtaining one from central MIT systems.
Check for a confirmation email, then log into the MIT Atlas Mobile App to upload a photo for the ID. Please keep track of the password that you set. Vendors must upload a photo of a valid government ID for confirmation via mycard.mit.edu (or bring ID in person to the Atlas Center). While you are setting up your Kerberos ID, choose the option to forward emails from your MIT email to your work email. Physical cards can be picked up from Atlas Center or printed from a self-service kiosk in Building 16.
Send your Kerberos name to your staff contact.
3. Complete MIT.nano Emergency Preparedness Training and Safety Quiz.
All vendors accessing MIT.nano facilities are required to complete an MIT.nano Emergency Prep & Safety Quiz module which details the basic safety systems in place and the evacuation routes.
4. Request permissions for special access.
Certain activities in the lab have additional hazards associated with them and require additional EHS training. Contact the MIT.nano EHS personnel at mitnano-safety@mit.edu if you have questions. Special access is only granted at the discretion of the MIT.nano staff.
